"Our house was built in 1880, so as you can imagine, nothing is straightforward. Not a single wall is perfectly straight, none of the floors are level, and we bought the house from someone who had done all sorts of questionable DIY over the years. When Jay lifted the floorboards, it was a complete mess. There were no struts between the joists, plumbing had been run everywhere, and electrical cables were a tangled mess with exposed copper in places. It all had to be stripped back and done properly. On top of that, the job already included reinforcing a rotten joist, which meant part of the ceiling had to come down. The walls were out of plumb, the roof sloped and wasn't perfectly straight, and there were challenge after challenge throughout the project. Despite all of this, Jay stuck to his original quote and didn't charge us a penny extra. That level of honesty and integrity is hard to find. None of the complications phased him. Every problem was dealt with professionally, and the quality of the workmanship never dropped. The finished tiling is absolutely outstanding. Considering how uneven the walls and roof were, the end result is incredible. Jay clearly takes real pride in his work, communicates well throughout, and genuinely wants the job done properly rather than taking shortcuts. We're so pleased with the result that we've already booked him to come back in September to do our porch. I honestly couldn't recommend him highly enough. If you're looking for someone who's reliable, honest, and delivers exceptional workmanship, even on the most challenging old propertie, Jay is the person to call."
