"Had faulty fire alarm that kept going off and SKR Electrical Solutions Ltd came out quickly to sort it. Super professional, friendly, and knew exactly what they were doing. "Contacted SKR to repair a faulty hall light as he had done some reasonable jobs for my parents. He turned up and just as he was about to start the work told me it would incur a call out fee of £95+vat as well as an hourly rate of £50+vat. Being put on the spot like this made me feel I could not say no, which I suspect he relies on. He had a young lad with him who he was teaching (very very slowly) and it took him 40 minutes to change one light switch. The cost of which was additional to the fees quoted already (he used one I had bought the previous day). The light still didn't work so he told me he would then have to go get another light switch (at an additional cost AND time to be charged) and this wasn't guaranteed to fix this. I was now looking at a possible £240 - £300 to change two light switches. At this point I told him I had enough and to go even though this had cost me £174 and had not resolved the issue. He then did not leave until he had confirmation the payment had gone through in an intimidating manner. I dread to think what he would have charged me in the end. To add insult to injury he consistantly criticised the work my previous electrician had done and the light switch I had bought. The call out fee may have been justified if I had called him out at 2am but it was 2.30pm and I would have happily waited until the following week but he told me he was in the area and would pop in on his way home, which was approx 10 minutes from mine. The next day, and then AGAIN a week later, I received automated email reminders about the bill which only served to remind me how much he had robbed me blind. His attitude was awful, patronising and very condescending. I would not recommend him to anyone and neither me nor my parents will be using him again. He has however reminded me that I should never trust a tradesman even if he has done work for friends or family and that you should always ensure there are no outrageous call out fees despite a call not being out of hours BEFORE he comes to the house."
